Things my little girl is up to.

Posted by nathan on May 31, 2005 in Daughter, Father

1) trying to hold her head up on her shoulders and succeeding for the most part
2) turning her head to follow objects she is focused on
3) smiling and laughing
4) trying to engage in conversation even though she has no language nor teeth to form the sounds which are the basic building blocks of language
5) kicking, alot. Holding herself on her feet when Daddy helps hold her spine straight.
6) crying, very loudly and until she gets what she wants
7) eating all day long
8) sleeping very well
9) being the most beautiful baby in existence!!

The Lord has blessed us tremendously!!

Techincal Glitches

Posted by nathan on May 31, 2005 in Father

For one reason or another, which I have yet to suss out, I can no longer send pictures from my phone. It may be a service issue which will give the the distinct pleasure of speaking with a Verizon customer service representative. If there is one thing in my life which I do not ever want to do, that is to speak with the CSR from Verizon. Maybe it’s just bad history with the phone company that causes me such anguish just to contemplate contacting them about anything to do with my service. I’m sure that my own part in this years of faulty or incomplete payments to which end I have bad credit and hence bad feelings.

The point of the matter is that last week, I was able to snap a picture with my phone. Then I was able to send it via email to a service which linked up with this page here, and it would be posted. Now, I am unable to send the photo. Anywhere. I can send SMS text messages and emails but I can not send an email or a SMS text message that contains a photograph. I am particularly upset and concerned and baffled. Now, it would seem the obvious next thing to do about this is to contact the company but just the thought of doing so has me practically breaking out in hives.

BBC NEWS | England | Beds/Bucks/Herts | Two hurt in mock light sabre duel

BBC NEWS | England | Beds/Bucks/Herts | Two hurt in mock light sabre duel

What a couple of foolish geeks! I mean, just because I spent a good portion of my day downloading star wars images on my computer just so I could cut and paste them into the next episode of the Squeaky Saga, doesn’t make me a geek. These fools were filming their actions! Trying to make light sabers out of flourescent light bulbs!! I quit doing that when I was fifteen. I mean geez, you learn pretty fast that the first time you parry with a light bulb that it shatters.!

Actually, I feel quite bad for these people. They would only doing the best they could. They just didn’t think far enough down the line of events to see that putting gasoline inside of an active light bulb is a bad idea. I hope that they get well.

In the mean time, it looks like the premise of my next comic book has leaked out of my lips. Yes, it is going to be very STAR WARS in nature, or at least that will be the backstory’s setting. I hope you have been paying attention.

Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
Ephesians 5:1-2 (NIV)

It came to my attention during Pastor Stephen’s message about the living waters, that in addition to my notes about the news and my thoughts, I could include soem of God’s word into my postings. Even just a little bit would be very powerful and maybe someone’s life will be changed just a little bit. I only strive to be useful.

The CO$T of CITIZENSHIP

Posted by nathan on May 29, 2005 in Father

So I looked in my briefcase and it was gone. Ok, more information is needed so that everyone is not lost, I’m sure. I have a leather briefcase, it has been in my possesion for a number of years. I don’t use it to transport stuff back and forth from home to the office. No, I just leave it in a safe place and keep my important stuff in it. It has my copy of my military record, some photographs of various groups that I am proud to have been involved with, and some medals I won in competitions. It also contained my birth certificate. Or so I thought.

For years, the briefcase was in a storage unit, that i hardly ever visited. Before that, it was in the corner of several raw spaces in the “Artsy”/Industrial sections of the city that I was calling home. I saw my birth certificate two years ago, and I thought that I had put it in my briefcase. Well, It wasn’t there. I’ve had to order a new one to be sent to me by courier.

The website which I visited was very helpful and quite thorough. During the process, at the end of the process, there was a quiz. Yep, a quiz and it was all about me. At least it was multiple choice because some of the answers were quite hard. Like which of these addresses did you not live at in your life, and my county of birth was difficult too. Fortunately for me, that was on the open book portion of the test.

Well, anyways after passing the quiz and paying a reissue fee and the delivery cost, I should be getting a new Birth Certificate in the next week. This means I’ll be able to return to the country from Canada. No, I am not dodging the draft, although that promises to be a topic I’ll discuss in a later posting. I’ll also be able to get that New York State Driver’s License that I was denied a couple weeks ago.

California Looks Ahead, and Doesn’t Like What It Sees - New York Times

California Looks Ahead, and Doesn’t Like What It Sees - New York Times

Within the next 25 years, the Census Bureau projected, about a quarter of all Americans will be residing in what will be the three most populous states, California, Texas and Florida. Other big gainers will be North Carolina and Georgia.

What will we ever do with all the people that we got coming? It just doesn’t seem likely that we can handle this projected explosion with the resources and solutions we depend upon today. There really needs to be some serious advances in the manner in which we deal with the power supply to these populations. Not necessarily the political power although that will be a required adjustment as well, but the transportation and housing power. The generation of electrical power and water as well as heat. We also need to consider the changes in agriculture as we progress to the population expansion that is expected over the next 25 years.

If there is to be such a change in this nation’s population just based upon projections of numbers and formulas, then what of the world’s population. How will it change during the next 25 years? Naturally, I grow concerned with my family and how it will be affected by these events. I am also concerned with how our nation will respond to the pressures of such immigration to our shores. Perhaps by then we will have learned how to play well with others and it will be an easier time of international relations.

Although in twenty five years, I could have pulled up the fam and transplanted them into tropical island soil in the south pacific. Then I believe my probelms will not weigh on the mind in the same manner at all. Or perhaps, It is from my hidden lair in the south pacific that I will be able to control the world with my incredible mind control machine!! Oh snap, did I actually type that? I better go, I think I hear my mum calling.

Second Life: Your World. Your Imagination.

I totally tried and tried and tried to join up with this online virtual 3d world written by users. I just didn’t have the hardware/software combination correct. Oh well, I guess I ‘ll just have to be satisified with creating my own world to suit my needs here in the first life.

UbiFone

UbiFone

Ubi Cellular/Mobile connects you from any Cellular/Mobile to ALL phones and PC’s

yes, this is one of those sites where you find all the promises of the future. We’ll be driving cars like the jetsons and calling each other from everywhere to talk about everything ( I was gonna say nothing but there are things to talk about, like my cute little Squeaky!!) Anyways, it’s totally rocks me to see stuff like this and to know that soon, real soon, I’ll be able to make a phone call from my cell phone to a mobile phone in another country. Maybe not as soon as the technology is availible but that’s quite alright, I’ll manage until then. BTW
