End of the Year Send up

Posted by nathan on Dec 31, 2005 in Uncategorized

Well, the times we have all had here at EckenrodeHouse. Yes, indeed, it’s been marvelous times. All 802 people who have seen these pages since they first went public in April? was it April that the website first went up? Huh? That seems to have beeen an important month for some other reason, now what was it? Hmmmm. Oh, yes, that was teh month I was working on the pilot for Love Monkey. No, that can’t possibly be it. Oh well, it will come to me.

So, since I bought my first computer in March, the changes that have happened around here have been quite wonderful and sometimes quite geeky. Well, to be honest we had a computer here before Mach. It was a really old slow machine that we ‘inherited.’ All I used it for was to keep a spreadsheet for the family finance. Didn’t even connect to the internet. Now, I sort of wish that we had not donated that computer away, and then I’d have a whole lab of computers.

Don’t get me wrong here, I am not one hundred percent about computers, I mean I do have a life besides the digital aspects which I profess here. I mean, I well, um, er, well there’s the, and then there’s, well I do wash the dishes at least once a week! THat’s something.

No there is at least two percent of my life tat is not about computers! Ha!

Our landlord is raising the rent so we are beginning to search for a new apartment. We hope to get asomething that is similiar for maybe a little be less money. So thi afternoon we are going togo look at the first one.

My daily notes

Posted by nathan on Dec 30, 2005 in Uncategorized

Until I set up teh new system I’ll just paste the notes from the day into this site.

.#1 Publishing to the Web 00:39

I’d really like to turn emacs & planner into my webcontent publisher,
this is going to require that I find some configuration that will make
it easy enough that I can do it. Perhaps, I’ll just FTP everything at
the end of the day and let that be the way I handle it all. I wonder
if there will be a way to let the FTP client(client, ha, I’ll be doing
this from the command line on the linux box!!) handle the backup
numbers. hmm.

.#2 DQ # 2 11:59

My results were indicated high development in five areas;
Logical-Mathematical, Musical, Visual-Spatial, Verbal-Linguisitc adn
Intrapersonal. Many of the suggested study techniques given on page 33
are things that I have grown to enjoy using in recent months. I have
nearly always used outlines and charts in my school and study work,
and I am particularly fond of graphs. Additionally, I have branched
into using MindMaps and Wikis to store and organize my ideas. This
elps to present the information in a manner which is advantageous to
analyzation.

I am not too crazy about the suggestion of beating out rhythmns with a
stick as I study, but I do like the idea of taking music breaks. I will
try to put new material into songs, but I will not try to teach
someone else those songs. I have learned in the past that teaching
someonelese does reinforce the knowledge you have while expanding the
areas of learning in new directions for you personally. Basically,
there are many methods which I feel comfortable picking from and
putting into practice.

.#3 Gnostic Light 13:21

When the Orthodox Christian Church began to set itself into an
institution that had ranks and levels of access to God, they began to
mimic the structure of teh Jewish Temple. This is very same structure
which Jesus himself, as the orthodox Bible depicts, rebelled against
and denounced. When Jesus says, “It is only through me that you can
achieve salvation,” this does not mean that you must go through the
absolution process with a priest who you ask to talk to God on your
behelf. This is the very same process by which the Pharisees tried to
rule the temple and Jewish life.

.#4 Ej Sick 01:03

We went to the Doctor’s office on tuesday and got the seond half of
her flu shot and now she is running a fever and feeling pretty
lousy. It is frightening to see and scary to think about your little
girl not being the bright little light that she normally is. It’s all
perfectly normal I’m sure. She is ok, she is palying and eating and
drinking and still wetting her nappy, so I am not trully
worried. However, it is hard to see her suffering. She runs out of
steam much quicker than normal and doesn’t sleep as well. I believe
tht this will pass within the next twenty-four hours.

Snips from my planner

Posted by nathan on Dec 28, 2005 in Uncategorized

I have been working on various aspects of my day today, not really concentrating on any one task really well. I have been making good ground towards completing some of the more onerous tasks which have escped my motivation for quite some time, so that is good news.

On other fronts, or rears as it were, Squeaky has had some pretty bad poops today and she is still a bit grumpy this afternoon. Maybe she jsut wants more tim being hld. She does seem to need to be held much more than she did in the past. It is okay, I love that little baby!

My Esteemed response to today’s assignment.

By stating who and what he is the author gives himself ground to stand
on immediately. He does this by prompting the reader to question the
author’s authority and provoking the reader into a new realm of
thought. This strategy is quite effective in setting up the body of
the paper, and sets a good tone for the entire piece. And by echoing
this question and making it the last thing he writes, the author
leaves us in the position of having to do some work and figure out
some answers on our own. And isn’t that what he was saying in the
first place? [sic]

So much of my work is written, so much of my life is written. I write in the morning for meditation, I write at night to sum up, I write all day and I do things that invovle writing. I sometimes wonder if I’m not a writer instead of a whatever I am. What am I anyways?

I am in the process of getting my phone transferred over to a family plan, and leaving Verizon cum Bell Atlantic cum “the Evil Empire.” No longer will I have to call this horrible corporation and talk to their terribly rude customer service reps (although in teh case of full disclosure, I have had some hangups with them that had nothing to do with them.) Now, I will deal with the Germany Telecommunications
company, T-Mobile. Yes, I know they sponsored Lance’s main rival, but they do have a hot chick as a spokesperson.

YOu don’t know it but…

Posted by nathan on Dec 28, 2005 in Uncategorized

…behind the scenes I am working on a new website layout. Yes, once again, I am working up a new format and presentation. Okay, maybe it’ll happen, maybe it won’t, you will be able to find out for sure as long as you stay tuned in!

EJ went to the doctor today and had her second half of the flu shot and so the rest of the day she was grumpy and cranky. Naturally you’d say, stick me with a large needle, ight in my flshy bits, of course I’m going to be none too pleased for the rest of the day!

We made another wonderful discovery tonight, something that should be a no brainer but you know how it is sometimes. Yes, I’m talking about a true scientific break through here. It’s practically an irrefutable axiom: Real food, Real Poo. That’s right, the little girl is making a stinking big mess all over the place!very day for the last five days- and the way she keeps eating whatever is on my plate, there’ll be no end in sight. [end! ha!now that's pun-ny!]

Sorry there isn’t more here but as I said before, I am working in the background on a new method of publishing.

EJ’s First Christmas

Our lovely family Christmas was quiet and quite special. This is EJ wearing her special Christmas dress in the midst of the wrapping paper from all or presents.

We are not going to do the whole Santa Claus deal. It’s all marketing, and I’d rather let Christmas be about the peole we know and love than about the corporations. We went to an Arabic Ltheran Christmas service tonight, it was very neat to hear the carols in Arabic, and the prayers and the stories. They also had English everything, but the Arabic was really quite nice.

Since it is Christmas morning in Australia, we opened our presets here on Christmas Eve. Now, we do not have to wait for you know who to come down the chimney which we do not have. We are so thankful for everything we have received this year and hope that everyone out there has a good holiday.

You want me to do what?

Posted by nathan on Dec 21, 2005 in Uncategorized

Steph stayed home today because of the transit strike. So she worked from the house and to me that means I had to share the computer array. Oh boy, that was like disconnectin gthe morphine drip. I had to exist in the house for nearly _eight_hours_ without my electronic information stimulation. AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!! Oh sure, I still got things done, in fact I was quite a bit more productive because I did not surf the web in two different directions at once. In fact I didn’t dive into the infonet at all. I did run _one_ email conversation today, but that was the very minimum I could do.

It actually wasn’t as bad aas I am making it out to be. I did get teh house cleaned up and played a lot with EJ, who really had a good time with Mommy at home today. No trouble whatsoever. Thanks alot Squeaky! Mommy thinks I am making it up about your crying, kiddo! We did have a really nice and relaxing day at home withSteph wroking her tail to the bone. Unfortunately, I feel like we were too distracting and Steph’s work performance seemed to slip in the afternoon. Oh well, we’ll have a new set of problems as tomorrow she has to return to work, and we have no milk in the house for bubby to eat.

The Lil Bug has been eating quite alot of clementines recently, tonight she had nearly a quarter of one, that was after eating rice and chicken for dinner. Yes, rice and chicken straight from Daddy’s plate, not the Gerber prepackaged kind. Tough kid, so far, she has eaten just about anything we stick into her mouth. She even seemed to enjoy the spicy sauce tonight. But it is plainly obvious that she likes the clementines a whole bunch. She will get very exceited just when she sees me pick one up!

I just realized the other night that I have been forcing everyone to plow through my terrible spelling. Maybe I will start to use the spell checker soon. Maybe.
