Ugh! Lost it

Posted by nathan on May 29, 2006 in Father

I had something totally witty and sublime that I was going to share with everyone tonight, but it has totally escaped the prison cell block that is my mind.

Our little girl is toddling all over the house, she has a new gesture that she learned today. You know how you shake your head to say yes? Well, that is her new gesture, she is beginning to shake her head. She saw me do it and now she does it all over the place.

She was so sad tonight when I was leaving on the bike without her, she kept grabbing my helmet and bringing it to me. SHe really wanted to go out on the bike, she would point to it and get all forlorn. I imagine she even cried when I left.

MAybe that’s why she crashed the computer! ;-)

Yet Another Official Announcement

Posted by nathan on May 28, 2006 in Father

WE have a TODDLER in our house. She is just up and walking about whereever she pleases. If she falls down, she picks herself back up nd continues on her way. Eliza-Jane just goes and goes and goes and goes. She really loves the beaded curtain in front of the bathroom doorway, she will grab a hold of it and sort of surf in place. She also likes to grab onto the kitchen gate and shake it violently.

We are so thrilled at this new development, and so is EJ. LAst night, we all went to a friend’s house for a birthday party and EJ was a huge hit as she toddled all over the place, eating all the grapes and playing with people.

Yup! WE got ourselves a Toddler.

Hello again

Posted by nathan on May 25, 2006 in Father

It has been a couple of days, I think, since I last wrote. There has been lots of activity around here. My laptop has begun a slow spiral towards death, the CD player no longer works in it, so when this final week of class is over, I will embark on a new project to rebuild my laptop. I’m quite certain Apple did not intend for any of their merchandise to go through this sort of Frankenstein metamorphisis.

So, I mentioned the final week of class, which means final touches on the big writing project and powerpoint presentation that are both due this Sunday at midnight. I hope to heave them complete by Saturday at midnight so that I can relax on Sundy and enough the time between classes, because you know the new clas starts on Monday!

Then as if the week is not busy enough already- Eliza-jane is feverish and sick. So she and I are staying at home and sleeping alot in our PJs, trying to sweat out this fever. Poor little Bug, just wants to be right next to me so that she will feel better. Hopefully this will pass soon.

We gave in, finally

Posted by nathan on May 22, 2006 in Father

Yesterday, after the third successive night of very little sleep, we moved our bed out of the bedroom and into the livingroom. We have given up on the idea that we can all sleep in the same room. So, then to make room for our bed in the livingroom, we moved all the furniture that has any of EJ’s stuff into what was the bedroom and has now become her room.

We still have our clothes in the closets in that room but now our living quarters are set up like a studio apartment, or more like two studio apartments which are connected by the galley kitchen.

There is still feng shui stuff that needs to be done with our stuff but it is starting to look like we’ll have a new living arrangement. Steph seems to be pleased to be able to watch telly from the bed. Not that we own a television, we use a large monitor and an Apple Mini to watch DVDs and television shows from the internet.

A year too late

Posted by nathan on May 20, 2006 in Father

I thought that this year on my birthday, I would become eligible to run for President – but it just goes to show how little I know about the Constitution. According to Wikipedia I could have thrown my hat into the ring last year. Anyways, shall we celebrate my birthday by writing my name on a ballot for President of the United States of America? I’m sure it’ll be a kick!

playground poem

A leaf on the floor
climbing the stairs
taking those tenuous first steps
a twig in the sandbox
everything has the interest of the brand new

Funny Little Girl

Posted by nathan on May 17, 2006 in Father

Yesterday, we played pass the purse back and forth, which was when I showed her that there was an inside pocket, now she can put her cellphone in there and other stuff like index cards, my hair bands, my pen, or MY CELLPHONE!!!

Today, she has been walking around and around the coffee table (why we have to call it the coffee table when it’s the only table, I don’t know) with the purse slung over her shoulder. Just about the funniest thing I have ever seen!

First release

Posted by nathan on May 15, 2006 in Father

Ok, I am going to start releasing tracks on successive Mondays. The whole collection of tracks is called dark matter.

The work and the process are both inspired by the podcast at spacemusic.nl, my fascination with science, scifi and the inner workings of being human. Is that enough pretension for you?

This is the first track, out of my new collection, if you really like it let TC at spacemusic.nl know about it so I can end up on his podcast.

Track One
Lament of the Squeakazoid
an EckenrodeHouse production.

huge weekend

Posted by nathan on May 15, 2006 in Father

so all day today after church, I was working very hard to write a paper that i had to turn in tonight. ej was grumpy and totally missed her nap in the afternoon, in fact she did not get much of a nap yesterday either as we went to the zoo with Steph’s friend from Oz.

But I digress.

The paper was hard and difficult to research and I did not want to do it, but finally, I was able to finish it. I understand that college is difficult and I am not sure that I will be able to finish it, but I will keep trying to do the work one assignment at a time for now.
