We will miss her.
Where the Love is at!
Yesterday was Wednesday, as you all may know by now, and on that day of the week EJ and I go out on little field trips into the city. This is so that she and I have some really good times together, plus it dispels any building resentment I have from feeling that I am isolated. So, we went to the American Folk Art Museum.
Not really worth the admission price, is my verdict, if the cost was exactly three dollars cheaper then I would have a much greater feeling of satisfaction.
Afterwards, EJ and I went to Central Park to the playground right there on Central Park South. It was herethat we had our first accident away from home. We have had accidents in our neighborhood, and we just go home wash up and change. Well, we did that in this case only there was a 45 minute subway ride home. I put a diaper on her before we got on the train but she still had to sit in her wet pants and socks. Oh well, that won’t happen when she learns to go to the potty.
The Bubster fell asleep on the way home,I pulled my laptop out of my bag to work on a presentation that i am giving tonight. I also pulled in headphones to listen to some music. The first song was called “White & Nergdy” by Wierd Al Yankovic and that was followed by “Pretty Fly for a White Guy” ( a classic punk rock remake of an old Beatles tune). It was midway through the second song that someone informed me that the speakers for the laptop were on and I noticed a crew of teenagers staring at me as if i were from Outer Space.
I turned the speaker off and there was only one thing left to do at that point, keep working on my presentation of Ubuntu Linux!!
Yup, I’m quite nerdy, quite white, but pretty fly with the world’s tiniest laptop AND running Free Software!!!
HEHE
no not on EJ, on my face. EJ is doing very very well, she is growing faster than weeds and learning to talk and do simple tasks around the house. She will throw things in the trash or put dirty dishes in the sink. She also demands Milo by name and can say “ceral” but prefers to just point at the cabinet to get her breakfast, or more accurately, to get her Daddy to get her breakfast. Her Daddy, whom she still calls “Mommy” unless she is talking able a photograph of him, and in that case She calls nearly everyone in photographs “Daddy”.
The title of this post is about my face. Because after reading a couple months ago, a story about someone we know in the New York Times, I have decided to make less of an impact upon our planet. OK, I know, you are thinking, how much more of a Communist-Hippie-Pinko can Nathan get? It’s not that terrible to think about making an difference in the longrun is it? Anyways, I digress. I have chose to no longer play along with the marketing and advertising agencies who insist that I need to buy a new razor handle every couple years and get new blades every month. This decision will also pay off economically as well.
Now, I am not going to grow a big shaggy beard like the Hippie that everyone already thinks I am, nope instead, I have purchased a Straight Razor. And as I learn how to use it, I am experiencing cuts and scrapes like never before. But I know that I will not have to contribute to that pile of discarded razor blades which is building up in the local landfill.
BTW, we have booked Christmas Holliday. It will be in Alaska this year.
Since getting my new computer, I have been able to do some things that I was not quite able to do in the past. Now I am able to play games because the cpu is much faster than I have been used to so I have been enjoying Planet Penguin Racer, Neverball and Battle for Wesnoth. It’s great fun being able to play games again, plus they are somewhat light-hearted fare for my entertainment.
Yesterday, a new proposition came through my RSS Feed Reader to join an online game called Tribal Wars. So I did. Now, I’m on the team and building my little village so that we can slowly infect continent # 76. Delicious!! It’s really fun bein a part of a community that is as diverse and far-flung as the Ubuntu Users!
