If this weren’t so scary, I’d be laughing…

SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR URGENT BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP

DEAR AMERICAN:

I NEED TO ASK YOU TO SUPPORT AN URGENT SECRET BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP WITH A TRANSFER OF FUNDS OF GREAT MAGNITUDE.

I AM MINISTRY OF THE TREASURY OF THE REPUBLIC OF AMERICA. MY COUNTRY HAS HAD CRISIS THAT HAS CAUSED THE NEED FOR LARGE TRANSFER OF FUNDS OF 800 BILLION DOLLARS US. IF YOU WOULD ASSIST ME IN THIS TRANSFER, IT WOULD BE MOST PROFITABLE TO YOU.

I AM WORKING WITH MR. PHIL GRAM, LOBBYIST FOR UBS, WHO WILL BE MY REPLACEMENT AS MINISTRY OF THE TREASURY IN JANUARY. AS A SENATOR, YOU MAY KNOW HIM AS THE LEADER OF THE AMERICAN BANKING DEREGULATION MOVEMENT IN THE 1990S. THIS TRANSACTIN IS 100% SAFE.

THIS IS A MATTER OF GREAT URGENCY. WE NEED A BLANK CHECK. WE NEED THE FUNDS AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. WE CANNOT DIRECTLY TRANSFER THESE FUNDS IN THE NAMES OF OUR CLOSE FRIENDS BECAUSE WE ARE CONSTANTLY UNDER SURVEILLANCE. MY FAMILY LAWYER ADVISED ME THAT I SHOULD LOOK FOR A RELIABLE AND TRUSTWORTHY PERSON WHO WILL ACT AS A NEXT OF KIN SO THE FUNDS CAN BE TRANSFERRED.

PLEASE REPLY WITH ALL OF YOUR BANK ACCOUNT, IRA AND COLLEGE FUND ACCOUNT NUMBERS AND THOSE OF YOUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN TO WALLSTREETBAILOUT@TREASURY.GOV SO THAT WE MAY TRANSFER YOUR COMMISSION FOR THIS TRANSACTION. AFTER I RECEIVE THAT INFORMATION, I WILL RESPOND WITH DETAILED INFORMATION ABOUT SAFEGUARDS THAT WILL BE USED TO PROTECT THE FUNDS.

YOURS FAITHFULLY MINISTER OF TREASURY PAULSON

…now the Republican policy has driven us right into a Socialist Economy Scam, thanks alot guys.

just about sums it up for me

I really like the way this is worded.

“Sarah Palin is very likable. There’s nothing wrong with liking her. But this isn’t a zany sitcom where a friendly, plucky Everywoman with dangerous ignorance on foreign policy gets to be vice president. Americans don’t deserve someone too scared to do a press conference. Fun for a TV show, but running the country doesn’t permit second and third takes when you mess up the scene.”

“The way they sell you her story makes her appealing as a person – and she does seem like a person you’d like to have a beer with – but we’ve already tried that, and this isn’t a game show, where a game show contestant’s knowledge of the world will cut it.”

“Barack Obama will meet John McCain any time, anywhere to have a foreign policy discussion about any area of the globe and any challenge to America. The person John McCain chose to be a heartbeat away from the presidency – Sarah Palin – won’t even have a press conference to answer questions on foreign policy. It’s a fun story about a gutsy, likeable woman that, if it were made into a wacky movie script, we’d all go buy a ticket, but in the real America we can’t play games with people who won’t answer questions about foreign policy. That’s unheard of, and a slap in the face to voters.”source

A quick graphic to look at.

Where do you fall into this? How many people do you think actually fall into each category?

If you want more in depth discussion about this, read this article.

“It’s just flat wrong” to say people would do worse under Obama, says Burman. “Most lower- and middle-class people would pay less taxes under Obama than they would under the proposals being put forth by McCain.”

and another quote from the article

By contrast, even using the more favorable comparison, McCain’s proposed tax changes would still leave the Treasury coming up short. According to the study, McCain’s combined proposals would slash tax revenues by an estimated $253 billion over the 10-year period compared with what would come in under current tax policy.

Vote with your values

Posted by nathan on Sep 12, 2008 in Eckenrode

I will be voting with my values.

  • Life
  • liberty
  • pursuit of happiness

As far as the religious implications are concerned, this is the United States of America there is both separation of church and state and freedom of religion. Therefore you can be Jewish, Catholic, Islamic, Buddist or Pagan.

The following is an example of foreign policy that will bring us all into Global War. Obviously, the views expressed in the is video are of someone who is not aware of our problems as the result of forces crossing into Laos.

Vote with your values, but if you allow the cultural war to cause a global war between powers you are as at fault as they will be.

Medical Emergency #2

Posted by nathan on Sep 7, 2008 in Eckenrode

So is was an easy Sunday afternoon, I was working on my assignments for the day, TheWife was in the bed snoozing like a pregnant lady and TheBubster was playing all over the house. making little messes here and there. TheWife got up for some food and gave TheBubster a glass of chocolate milk. She sat in her rocking chair to drink it, and some how fell out, breaking the glass and cutting her finger, the middle one on her left hand. I grabbed a towel and put pressure on it, then I began directing the support staff to fetch clothes; TheBubster had just gotten out of the tub from playing in the water for a while; and help me dress her. Then we made certain that we’d be prepared to be able to get back into the house and I walked out the door carrying our little girl. It’s ten minutes walk to the hospital, although I had to rest for a moment- currently I have a strained intercostal muscle on my right side, this is due to an overly aggressive workout regime.

We walked in the ambulance entry and there was a Doctor who happened to be walking through the halls at that exact moment, I showed him the wound and he calmly directed us to the front where a Triage nurse guided us into a room with a bed. TheBubster and I sat on the bed while TheWife read stories. Since our doctor’s office is in the same building, they had the medical records for TheBubster already available in the rolling computer desk that the Administrators worked from. We only had to sit in the bed and take care of the brave little girl in our arms.

Then there were some quiet calm discussions with doctors, and a couple rounds of calm introductions with nurses. We made certain that TheBubster knew everything that she wanted to know about what was going to happen before it happened. The Doctor came in and we had to lie TheBubster down and I had to use my leg and both arms to make sure that she did not jerk and move while they injected right into the wound, cleaned it out and sewed up the cut. TheWife had to do most of the pain management coaching as there were times when I had to really work hard to hold her down while she screamed, “I WANT TO LEAVE HERE, PLEASE!!”

Afterwards, we got the medicine and instructions before heading over to get some ice cream. We have now cleaned up the living room so that it no longer resembles a crime scene, all in all we are thankful that we have healthcare insurance because of TheWife’s job, that we live within walking distance of a teaching hospital for the Harvard Medical School and that she got lucky enough to have not damaged any of the tendons. Everyone should be so lucky- Universal Healthcare is a necessity for a safe and secure nation.

Nations that don’t like us very much

Posted by nathan on Sep 6, 2008 in Eckenrode

According to John McCain in his acceptance speech at the Republican Convention, we sent $700 billion to countries that “don’t like us very much” last year to import oil. Yet, according to the Energy Information Agency the US only imported 4.9 billion barrels of oil, which at today’s prices is only $536 billion. That’s $536 billion for all the oil that we import, not just to nations that don’t like us very much.

One third of that money goes to three countries.

  1. Canada
  2. Mexico
  3. the United Kingdom

Forgiving McCain’s error in arithmetic for a moment (but who would not like to have an extra $164 billion laying around their seven houses) after all he has admitted that “economics is not something I’ve understood as well as I should”, he is supposed to be an expert in Foreign Policy. I just recently had a class in International Relations, which is about as much knowledge as I will purport to possess in this area. McCain is either making an admission that there are no countries in the world who actually like us, and after that last eight years of Republican lead Washington, can you blame them? or he is just as confused about this area as his economics demonstrate.

Canada, Mexico and The United Kingdom are some of our closest allies both politically and geographically. It is without any reservation that I will call a pig a pig and say that McCain’s statement, “We are going to stop sending $700 billion a year to countries that don’t like us very much.” is a LIE.
