Daughter
Sometime last week, I started a project that has grown beyond my initial estimate. I pulled all the paperwork that we had been collectively shuffling across the Northeastern Corridor for the past thousand and a half years.
I made a big pile in my work space and left it for a while. Yesterday, TheWife and I sat down and sorted it into a small keep this pile and large shred this pile. Today, I went to buy a shredder and came home with a surprise for TheBubster.

I bought her an electronic game; the Leapster®2 Learning System. It claims to be educational even. I like it already and of course TheBubster loves it! There are additional cartridges with more games that can be purchased separately (before anyone jumps the gun, I’ve already gotten the Dora Camping Adventure for her but will be saving it for another time). My favorite part of the whole shooting match is that there is a component that allows parents to see what is being done with the device.
I plug a USB cable into the handheld and the data is then synchronized to a website which provides some analysis and reports about the skills and play patterns which are being used. There are also suggestions for other games which can be purchased to encourage different skills or to further develop the ones which are being explored. There are also rewards which are unlocked from within the game, some of which are new games which can be downloaded into the handheld. Overall, I am pleased with this device after the first day’s use. Let’s see how this progresses across time!

to stop at a haircut, the Bubster announced to me yesterday that she wanted holes in her ears upon being told that she couldn’t wear he dangly earrings in the store without them. We continued on to my friend’s house and after asking her at least 10 more times if she really wanted holes in her ears….
we went to the tattoo parlor. Aftr the shaking subsided )and just a few tears) the Bubster decided she onl;y wanted one earring. But some chocolate ice cream and the promise of a pair of lady bugs to wear in her ears, she elatedly ran back and allowed Erin to finish the ritual.

So tonight, after selling TheBubster on the benefits and fun of taking a bath with Mr. Bubble® bubble bath in the water, TheWife was prepared to comb her hair. Only this is a real battle. She hates it.
TheBubster that is.
TheWife was quite tired after nursing the GrubbyBud, who is feeling a touch under the weather today, so she did not put up much effort into the actual combing of hair and offered up a “threat”. It was, so it seemed, expected that Bubby would capitulate to having her hair combed rather than having it cut, only she called the bluff.
So, the threat was backed into, “well we’ll have to take you to a hairdresser’s tomorrow, and I still need to comb your hair, right now.”
Of course, when offered a choice of how short, TheBubster said “as little as Daddy”. To which I chimed in, thinking still that our strategy was still to get her to submit to the comb, “I can go get the clippers now.”
Again, the bluff was called.
I went to get the clippers set up, thinking that it would be a little scary and I realized that I just might cry about cutting off the beautiful locks hanging from her head. Then the clippers jammed and I had to get out the scissors and, well, we cut her hair. Now, I’m no hairdresser and of course Bubby has very little patience, so it was not the greatest haircut in the world, but now she has hair that will not hurt when it get combed.
And yes, I am going to tease you with this story and not include a photo with it! Relax, it will come soon enough, or you could look through the photo albums on this site, there’s bound to be something showing up soon!

The Bubster chose black jeans to wear today. She chose a very trendy, well-designed, left-wing t-shirt. She chose a black velvet cardigan with transparent buttons. Well what else could I do but put her hair into two plaits? She wanted jewellry then, so I gave her a 3-strand diamonte number. Put that with the shearling boots and cold pizza for breakfast and you have a very Indie preschooler.

…but I’ll write it anyways.
I have enabled the Disqus commenting system on this blog. This allows for a single sign on for comments across the blogosphere whether you wish to use a disqus account or your Facebook account. It even pulls any comments which originate on Friendfeed back to the original posting to maintain any comments in place. I am happy to use this commenting system as it gives me some good tools as well as providing some level of convience to others, however I have noticed some things which I do not enjoy happening.
There are people who have been leaving comments that have enabled their disqus account to be something rather commercial, like Phoenix Limo Driver or Hotels in Hong Kong, or something else non-human personlike. Generally this account name links to a website which is commercial advertising in nature and therefore not in line with the intentions or objectives of this blog. It is this reason that I have put in a basic guideline in my moderation of comments. Here is my one guideline:
If I do not think that your user name is also a person’s name or alias but rather a commercial- i will delete your comment and the link and mark you as spam within the Disqus ecosystem.
This is not to be considered a threat or me being a tough guy, it’s just making certain that friends and family who visit this blog do not have to concern themselves with wading through the blatant advertising that people have been trying to slide into my space, which is not to be confused with MySpace.
Anyways, that’s enough of my ranting for the day, hope all you peoples out there are doing well!
