California Looks Ahead, and Doesn’t Like What It Sees - New York Times

Within the next 25 years, the Census Bureau projected, about a quarter of all Americans will be residing in what will be the three most populous states, California, Texas and Florida. Other big gainers will be North Carolina and Georgia.

What will we ever do with all the people that we got coming? It just doesn’t seem likely that we can handle this projected explosion with the resources and solutions we depend upon today. There really needs to be some serious advances in the manner in which we deal with the power supply to these populations. Not necessarily the political power although that will be a required adjustment as well, but the transportation and housing power. The generation of electrical power and water as well as heat. We also need to consider the changes in agriculture as we progress to the population expansion that is expected over the next 25 years.

If there is to be such a change in this nation’s population just based upon projections of numbers and formulas, then what of the world’s population. How will it change during the next 25 years? Naturally, I grow concerned with my family and how it will be affected by these events. I am also concerned with how our nation will respond to the pressures of such immigration to our shores. Perhaps by then we will have learned how to play well with others and it will be an easier time of international relations.

Although in twenty five years, I could have pulled up the fam and transplanted them into tropical island soil in the south pacific. Then I believe my probelms will not weigh on the mind in the same manner at all. Or perhaps, It is from my hidden lair in the south pacific that I will be able to control the world with my incredible mind control machine!! Oh snap, did I actually type that? I better go, I think I hear my mum calling.

Did I call on the 28th? I didn't think so, but I really should have. I do need to call frequently if for no other reason than to keep a new grandmother's voice in the memory bank of one small child named Eliza-Jane!!
