FOXNews.com - Politics - Blogs Face Possible FEC Regulation

In the interest of Democracy and the Bill of Rights, this story seems to be opposed to the general freedoms which this country was founded. It seems everytime that the mass public, the whole of man, or even just the people who are not the controls of the machinations of power, begin to fond a voice in the social fabric, then there is an effort to constrain that voice. (Sorry about the run on sentence, there nothing to do about it.)

Years and years, I have walked about, or rode my bicycle about, and wished that there was some way that I could scream loud enough that someone could hear me. Even if my opinion or point of view was that of a bit of a ‘nutter’, what was important to me was to be able to express my opinion. With the modern media engine grinding out background stories that drown out the loudest peep I could yulp, it seemed like I’d have to just swallow my opinion and come to terms with the fact that noone gives a hang about my opinion. Or my Right to express it.

Along comes the internet. Now, I did not seize upon the personal publishing aspects immediately. I did find gainful dreams in the dot com boom. Now, with the rise in blogs, I have the ability to be heard. I can express my opinion without some one within an establishment holding the lack of college degree, or writing experience, or being born in the right family or being a member of the right club over my head. Now, my opinion is published. Daily if I desire it to be.

Now, there is a bit of journalism which comes from an established News source, which states that the FEC will be seeking to regulate my Constitutional Right to publish my opinion about political matters. Horsefeathers!

If I have to mount a one man campaign to ride against this issue, I just might. What is more likely is that I will continue to publish my blog and if there is any concerns about the money that I may or may not earn; and to be frank it really is not about the money; then I will report it to the agency which is concerned, the IRS.

Uphold our Constitutional Rights to Freedom of the Press.

  • Amen! I can't believe that they think they even CAN regulate all those blogs! What difference is there between a website/page and a blog? None. Yet they don't seek to regulate websites or pages...
