Consider this a warning of sorts

In lieu of recent stupidity, on the part of the All-Knowing-All-Seeing-and-Completely-Infallable Government Administration which has decided to BAN [[Vegemite]],there may be drastic changes in the wind. Especially, if my reactionary instincts get to have full use of the facilities.

Apparently, this ban is due to the addition of [[folate]] to the formula for Vegemite, a formula which has remained unchanged for 80 years. Folate is an important nutrient necessary to prevent anemia during pregnancy. The FDA deems that only bread and ceral may have folate added to them in this country. Other sources of folate are spinach, turnip greens, dried beans and some fruits and vegetables.

People take vitamins and supplements all the time, especially people who are pregnant. It seems ridiculously stupid for the government to ban another option for receiving a very important nutrient, particularly when that government is taking the necessary steps to insure that any woman who happens to become pregnant MUST keep the baby.

I feel sorry for the thirteen year old girls who live in absolute poverty that get raped, repeatedly becoming impregnated by an older relative/associate and is unable to a) have an abortion to insure the safety of her own _LIFE_, b) insure that she can actually give birth later in life and provide for her child, and c) have a healthy child, period. HELL, I feel sorry for a Twenty-something college graduate who is saddled with a student loan and is working a nice middle-class job just to pay off her debt and pay the rent, and she gets pregnant despite taking all the necessary birth control precautions, in fact I feel sorry for the extremely wealthy socialite who is married and is a regular attendee of the local Baptist Church - or any other person who is told that just because they have the capacity to become pregnant, and if they happen to become pregnant they must stay pregnant until the baby comes out naturally. (As a completely unrelated aside here, I wonder how many homeless people are in this country? And did you hear that the population of the US just passed 300 million people last Tuesday?)

The Government of this Country is owned by crass commercial interests stupid for banning Vegemite. It’s just a breakfast spread for toast, enjoyed by Australians and New Zealandersaround the world everywhere except for here.

    Due to lack of knowledge about getting pregnant or what is pregnancy, teen aged girls are completely damaging their future. I think we need to do something for this issue globally.
  • I agree with you kimi.Teens in the U.S. are more likely to become pregnant than teens in any other comparable nation. Teens deserve honest, accurate, age-appropriate information about how to protect themselves.They need sex education that provides information about healthy communication, responsible decision making, as well as abstinence and contraception as ways to prevent unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.
